Kwong Lok Wah – Vistage Chair Profile

kwong_lok_wahKWONG LOK WAH, a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales, a Member of the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and a Member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants, graduated with an Honours Degree from the University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur in 1966 in Economics and Linguistics.

Lok Wah today runs his own Management Consulting practice, and has been in the consulting profession for over 27 years, with periods in between of holding positions of a CEO in a Latex Glove business (Super Latex Sdn Bhd / Superior Gloves Sdn Bhd); Deputy Managing Director, Strategic Planning, Lam Soon Bhd; and as one of two Joint-Chief Operating Officers in a 3 year restructuring and rescue exercise of Kuala Lumpur Industries Bhd (KLIH), a suspended counter with a debt of just under RM1 billion, working with the White Knight (Taman Equine Sdn Bhd), Danaharta, and the Special Administrators. The exercise was a reverse takeover and was successfully completed with the listing of the Newco called Equine Capital Bhd on the Main Board of Bursa Malaysia in October 2003.

His consulting practice today sees him getting involved in turnaround workouts with financially distressed businesses, corporate and financial restructuring, mergers and acquisitions, due diligence reviews, share valuations, detailed reviews of internal control systems, project feasibility studies, the sourcing of private equity and venture capital for new ventures, advising on shareholder agreements and joint-venture set-ups, management and financial training, as well as human resource planning.

He has facilitated strategic planning sessions for the Executive Committees of the Malaysian Academy of Science, and of the Malaysian Invention and Design Society (MINDS) and has been the Lead Facilitator (heading a team of four facilitators) for British American Tobacco Malaysia Bhd (BATM) Corporate Social Reporting Process.

Lok Wah was Principal of the Consulting Division of Ernst and Whitney (now known as Ernst & Young) between 1984 – 1989.

Lok Wah is also an experienced Life, Leadership and Business Coach, who coaches CEOs and their key executives in developing their leadership and business skills, as well as to help them acquire behavioural skill-sets and develop the emotional fortitude that will enable them to grow and in the process add value to their businesses and their organizations.
