4Q2011 Vistage-MIER CEO Confidence Index
CEO
Confidence – Looking for a
Bottom?
The fourth quarter 2011 Vistage-MIER CEO Confidence Index settled lower
quarter-on-quarter at 82.5 points, down 10.8 points from the previous
quarter’s 93.3 points. Year-on-year, the Index is lower by 33.4 points.
All of the Index’s 6 component indices settled lower both on a
quarter-on-quarter and year-on-year basis, just like in the previous
quarter.
After eight
consecutive quarters spent above the
threshold level of 100 points, the boundary at which the opposing
forces of optimism and pessimism balance out, the Index finally sank
below 100 points in 3Q2011. Though the Index’s fall further below the
threshold level in the current quarter is no reason to push panic
buttons, it is certainly a cause for concern. The growth momentum of
the Malaysian economy has been moderating. The Index’s performance
certainly suggests further moderation in the months ahead. The question
is, how much further? And what are the implications for Malaysia’
high-income economy goal?
Read on for
more details of the report in: http://www.vistage.com.my/ceo-confidence-index/
Please feel
free to forward the report to your
business associates who will find it meaningful and should they wish to
participate in the Index survey, do refer them to Vistage
Malaysia. The Edge published the results on Monday, 28
November 2011.

Vistage Group Eco-Meeting
VCE-1 Jungle
Retreat to Kuang for
Eco-Meeting
The VCE-1 Group decided to break the humdrum of conducting Group
meetings in members’ offices, and experience a radical change by having
it convened in a jungle campsite at Kuang. This eco-meeting held on 25
October 2011 was hosted by member Len Meng Fui of Bridge ICD, who has
loads of experience organizing outdoor training and development
expeditions. The day started off with the Group gathering at the Kuang
base camp, where they were briefed and then set off into the jungle in
three 4WD’s which easily traversed the muddy, undulating jungle trail
filled with waterlogged sinkholes, and after an hour’s bumpy drive,
delivered all members to the campsite located beside a
waterfall.
For lunch the
VCE-1 members had to organize and
cook up some dishes (or go hungry!) which was admirably and deliciously
achieved. For dinner, the Host Len had organized a chef and her team to
whip up for the group a scrumptious ‘fine-dining’ experience, complete
with red wine! In between the meals, VCE-1 Chair Heah Kok Soon covered
the usual meeting agenda, including Significant Event Update and
Processing of Issues. At the end of the day, when they decamped from
the
jungle site at 7pm, all VCE-1 members unanimously declared it to be a
truly scintillating experience, and more importantly a refreshing
change from ‘business as usual’! “
