(Dr) Lee Cheong Chee is a graduate of South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, USA, with a major in Electrical Engineering and Electronics Engineering in 1988. He obtained a Master in Business (MBA) from University of Strathclyde, UK in 2003. He was conferred an Honorary Doctorate in Engineering by UTeM in November 2017.
CC Lee has 30 years of working experience in the semiconductor industry. His last position was President and Managing Director of Infineon Technologies, largest manufacturing site in Melaka, which houses about 9,000 employees. He successfully led and grew the site production output by 30% from 10.6B units (2014) to 13.8B units (2017) while headcount increased only by 10%, from 8082 (2014) to 8868 (2017). He negotiated with the employees’ Union to change the production shift pattern from 3 shifts 3 crew to 2 shifts 3 crews to fulfil major customers’ (EICC) requirement.
He also served as the General Manager of NXP Semiconductor (Seremban) for approximately 2 years. While in NXP, he grew the Seremban plant from 1,800 to 2,300 employees by transferring the production lines from Hong Kong, which enabled the closure of Hong Kong operation. Prior to working in NXP, he worked in American company, National Semiconductor, where he started his career as an engineer soon after graduation and progressed to be the site Managing Director in Melaka. From 2004 till 2009, he was assigned to start up a new factory in China (Suzhou) for National Semiconductor.
CC Lee likes to play golf and making new friends. He enjoys sharing his knowledge and teaching people so that they can benefits from his past experiences.
