Oei Kok Eong
Oei Kok Eong (KE) graduated in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Singapore in 1977. His career has spanned the areas of trading, projects, maintenance, manufacturing & top management covering Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam working with local companies as well as MNCs. He also spent 30+ years in the automotive component industry. In 2006, he was appointed Executive Director of APM Holdings Berhad, responsible for overseas operations till he retired in 2011.
KE served in varied positions in related trade and industry associations including MACPMA, Toyota Suppliers Club, (started and headed the Lean activities there). He was the founding Chair of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) group in Malaysia in 2000. He also sat in various committees in SIRIM representing his company as well as MACPMA.
In 2011, he mentored APM Shock Absorbers team to win the #1 Lean Model Company from more than 100 companies under the SME Corporation Lean Project. He was until recently a member of the General Technical Committee of Lloyds Register. KE was also an Associate with the Malaysia Automotive Institute helping component manufacturers towards excellence through Lean projects and the Automotive Suppliers Excellence Programme (ASEP).
KE is currently Chairing a Chief Executive group ie VCE27 as well as co-mentoring a group of newer Chairs. Presently, he sits as Independent Non-Executive Director of three main board companies of the KLSE. KE is married and has five children and three grandchildren. He worships at the First Baptist Church and enjoys taichi, trekking, reading and movies.
