Professor Dr Wilson Tay Chuan Hui is a Director, Chair and CEO Coach of Vistage Malaysia. In academia, he has held position as the Dean and Professor of Management at the Faculty of Business at two private universities: Asia Metropolitan University and INTI International University. In commerce and industry, he has served as CEO and Principal Consultant of Mind Quest Consultancy which is engaged in business advisory, organizational transformation and turnaround management and with Omni View Consultancy Sdn Bhd, which is engaged in competency profiling, strategic executive talent management and development, performance management, assessment center and succession planning. He was the former CEO of the Malaysian Institute of Management (MIM) engaged to turnaround and reposition the National Management Organisation (NMO)of Malaysia responsible for the management and leadership of Malaysian managers. Prior to his appointment as MIM CEO, he was the Vice President of the Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC) and Head of Technopreneurs and ICT SMEs Flagship responsible for developing the MSC companies and ICT Technopreneurs. Before that he was the COO of TMS Berhad and later was appointed as the Chairman of company which was a software development company listed on MESDAG. On his return to Malaysia from Australia in 1996, he served as the ExecutiveDirector and later CEO of TEC Asia (now Vistage Malaysia).
He is currently the Independent Lead Non-Executive Chairman and Director of two Malaysian companies publicly listed on SGX Catalist. For two terms he was appointed as a Director on the Board of Malaysia Venture Capital Management Berhad (MAVCAP) and served as the Chairman of the Investment Committee. He was also the Senior CGP Coach for PROFICEOS engaged by Cradle Investment Funds Sdn Bhd, Both MAVCAP and CRADLE are subsidiaries of the Ministry of Finance. Dr Wilson Tay had previously served as a member of the Technical Resource Group on Human Resources on the Industrial Master Plan 3 (IMP3) appointed by the Minister of International Trade and Industry Malaysia and was also the Chairman of Taskforce on Malaysia’s Workforce Competency and Competitiveness, a member of the Taskforce on SME Development and Advisor to the Global Centre of Excellence in Human Capital (GCEHC) – a community of academics, practitioners and professionals.
Dr Wilson Tay had his early education in St Francis Institution in Malacca. He completed his tertiary education in the US and Australia and spend 26 years working in the professional, academic, mining and industry sectors in Australia and Asia. He has worked in many senior and diverse leadership roles in well-known multinational corporations and public institutions overseas and locally. His overseas work experiences included senior executive assignments with Curtin University of Technology, Murdoch University, Price Waterhouse & Co, Dampier Salt Limited, CRA Limited (now Rio Tinto Zinc (RTZ) of Australia) and the Art Gallery of Western Australia.
Dr Wilson Tay possesses multiple professional and academic qualifications. He holds professional fellowship with the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ), the Australian Society of Certified Practicing Accountants (CPA Australia), the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ICSA), the Institute of Corporate Managers and Administrators (ICM) in Australia, and is a Companion of the International Management Centers in United Kingdom and a registered Certified Financial Planner (USA). He was a former General Council Member of MIM, and is a current MIM Ordinary Member. He is also a MIM Certified Professional Trainer (MIM CPT) and a HRDF Certified Trainer. His academic qualifications include the Bachelor of Business in Accounting, Associateship in Corporate Secretarial Practice, Graduate Diploma in Business & Administration, Master of Business from the Curtin University of Technology and Doctor of Management (with Distinction) from IMCA (UK) and validated by Southern Cross University in NSW, Australia. He has been an adjunct Associate Professor and Faculty Member of several local and overseas institutions of higher learning. His doctoral and post-doctoral areas of research interest and practice are in management, leadership, entrepreneurship and business model innovation, knowledge management, human capital development, corporate performance and transformation management.
In 1995 he was recognized as the CPA of the Year for Public Sector in Perth, Western Australia. In the same year he was awarded the Fulbright Visiting Fellowship to USA. In 2008 was awarded the Global HR Award for Individual Contribution to Management Development by Asia HRD Congress in Abu Dhabi.
His life purpose, through Vistage is to bring great and dynamic CEOs and Business Owners together as a formidable team to share experiences and learn from each other to become better and more effective leaders, growth their businesses successfully and be mindful of a balanced and purposeful life
