Stanley Liew
Stanley has a staunch acumen in management, sales, marketing and distribution in the commercial industry for 40 years. He amassed vast experiences during his 22 years in FMCG (Fast Moving Consumer Goods) environment with two renowned trading houses, Harrisons Sarawak Sdn Bhd (subsidiary of Harrison & Crosfield Pte Ltd UK) and Sebor Marketing (S) Sdn Bhd (subsidiary of Borneo Company Ltd, UK).Overseeing 23 major agencies in the Consumer Divisions, he was responsible for Nestle, Guinness, Unilever, Johnson & Johnson, Gillette and Scott Paper, alongside other global brands under his charge.
Armed with professional Diploma in Marketing from The Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK) and MBA (with Distinction) from Durham University Business School(UK), Stanley was sought after by ASTRO Malaysia, a satellite pay-tv company, to be part of its start-up pioneering team. He was instrumental in the set-up and eventual launch of ASTRO Sarawak and served as its Regional Manager for 5 years. In 2001, another career advancement brought him to Astro Broadcast Centre Headquarter, Kuala Lumpur, where he headed the national Sales & Distribution Division(Malaysia) and played a major role in the rebranding of Astro. When Astro expanded its services to Indonesia in 2004, Stanley was designated as Executive Vice President, PT Direct Vision, Indonesia to head the Jakarta Sales & Marketing Department. Within a short span of 10 months and supported by a team of about 600 staff, he launched Astro services successfully, acquiring about 200,000 subscribers within its 1st year. This was a huge milestone for Astro Indonesia, surpassing the combined total subscription of only 120,000 from the 4 local Indonesian main pay-tv service providers after 14 years in the same market.
In 2019 Stanley was appointed the Director General of Malaysian Pepper Board (MPB) by the Ministry of Primary Industry & Commodities, Malaysia. He spearheaded a major rebranding exercise for Sara Sprice, a 23-year-old product brand of MPB, successfully embalming a total revamp for its local and export markets.
Stanley had been a member of the Malaysian Red Crescent Society since 1967. He was the Founding Chairman of the Malaysian Red Crescent Society Stampin Chapter, Kuching and had since developed many proficient front-liners and outstanding social leaders. Stanley had also been an active member of Toastmaster International for over 20 years, and was awarded Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM), a global Toastmaster International accreditation for excellence in public speaking.
