Seng Yang brings over 35 years of extensive experience in the automotive industry, spanning both vehicle assembly operations and automotive component/material suppliers. His professional journey has covered a wide spectrum of responsibilities, including materials planning, project management, sales and marketing, business operations, succession planning, and strategic development.

He began his career at Tan Chong Motor Assemblies (TCMA) — the premier assembler for Nissan/Datsun vehicles in Malaysia during the1970s and 80s. During his time at TCMA, he developed deep expertise in automotive supply chain management through hands-oninvolvement in materials requirement planning, inventory systems, digitalization programs, and regional B2B export initiatives within theASEAN Nissan network. His tenure at TCMA laid a strong foundation in Japanese management principles and lean practices.

Subsequently, Seng Yang advanced into the automotive component manufacturing sector, where he played a pivotal role in expanding sales and marketing functions. He was instrumental in securing new contracts and driving business growth — key factors contributing to the successful IPO of one of the companies he served. He also led business integration efforts following mergers and acquisitions.

In 2001, he joined Denso (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd., Japan’s leading automotive parts manufacturer, to manage sales for national car brands. He was appointed Senior General Manager of the Sales & Marketing Division in January 2011. During his decade at Denso, he deepened his expertise in Japanese business philosophy and the Toyota Production System (TPS), enhancing both operational efficiency and customer relationships.

In July 2011, Seng Yang was appointed Operations General Manager at Sime Kansai Paints, tasked with improving operationalperformance and supporting business growth. He was promoted to Managing Director in 2016, where he successfully led the company’sprofit recovery and localization of water-based automotive coatings production. Under his leadership, the company’s EBITDA margindoubled between FY2016 and FY2024. In 2020, the company commenced full-scale production of water-based primer and basecoat, nowsupplying major OEMs such as Perodua Global Manufacturing and Toyota’s Bukit Raja Plant.
