Ken Ng Eng Kwan
Ken is a result-oriented leader, with success in implementing key initiatives and programs that drive business growth and profitability. He had spent 27 years working in multiple countries (USA, China, Singapore) with MNCs (Multi National Company) as well as SME (Small Medium Enterprise). Ken held Management and Leadership positions in Medical Device & Automation Engineering Industries in last 22 years of his career, and was the VP Global Operations for a Japanese Ophthalmology technology company (HOYA Surgical Optics) headquartered in Singapore, before returning to Malaysia.
As VP Global Operations, Ken oversee the Global Operation functions across 2 manufacturing sites and 3 supply chain network in Asia and Europe. He was implementing the new plant start up in Thailand, as well as setting up a new global distribution centre there to support the business growth. He also implemented a new process to improve supply chain efficiency and lower manufacturing cost in the Singapore network.
As the Plant General Manager at BD (Benton-Dickinson, a US medical technology company) in Suzhou, China, Ken had championed the start up of a new medical device factory there, as well as doubling the existing factory’s capacity through a major process automation upgrade, and launched new products to enable business growth in the China medical market. BD China enjoyed year-on-year growth of ~10-15% in revenue and profit due to better new products and lower cost supplied by the local Suzhou factory. In his 8 year career in China, he had won the BD Manufacturing Excellence award in 2011 (beating more than 50+ other BD factories) as well as numerous awards in Safety, Quality, and Sustainability.
Earlier, Ken was posted to BD USA as a Senior R&D Engineer to develop innovative manufacturing processes in manufacturing a micro implant device to treat Glaucoma; and this was after he joined BD Singapore in the process automation team and later promoted to a manufacturing section manager.Prior to BD, Ken spent 10 years with a Singapore SME in Automation Engineering, delivering automation solutions to MNC customers such as Hitachi, Sony, Seagate, IBM, etc.
With his unique experience in Manufacturing, Supply Chain, R&D, Engineering and Lean-Six Sigma, as well as deep understanding of various working culture across USA/Europe, China and Asia, he had developed many young leaders in the organization to take on greater responsibility. Ken believe talent development helps employees gain personal growth and will eventually enable organizational growth as well.
