Ng Chet Chiang

Ng Chet Chiang started as an Inland Revenue officer with the Inland Revenue Department Malaysia in Johor Bahru. After leaving the governmental agency, he joined the private sector as a tax manager for the leading tax consulting firm SGV-Taxation Services Sdn Bhd, which was part of then Kasim Chan Group in 1980.

In 1982, he set up his own tax consultancy firm. He was a Fellow Member of Chartered Institute of Taxation Malaysia (FCTIM) and practiced under the tax licence granted under the Income Tax Act, 1967. He also obtained a corporate secretary licence from the SSM in the 1990s and was a corporate secretary and consultant for more than 25 years.

His tax consultancy and corporate secretarial firms were later passed down to his daughter, a qualified accountant, when in 2009 he decided to join his partners in managing the first locally set-up courier business — City-Link Group in Kuala Lumpur. In 2010, he sold all of his stakes in City-Link Group to his partners and co-founded, together with his son, a cross-border logistics company focusing on e-commerce.

He was also the national council member of the Association of Chinese Chambers of Commerce & Industry Malaysia (ACCCIM) for almost 35 years. During his 30 years of being a tax and corporate consultant, he was invited to become an independent and non-executive director of Apollo Food Holing Co. He left the role in 2018 after 22 years.

He was also a chairman of the Audit, Remuneration and other committees. Currently, he is a council member of the Klang Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industries (KCCCI). He was invited to become a council member as well for the Selangor state government’s Information Technology and E-commerce Council (SITEC) for 2017 to 2021.
