Ng Wai Heng
Ng Wai Heng has spent more than three decades helping organisations to build strong foundations for sustainable growth. A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) by training, her career began at Arthur Andersen (or now known as Ernst & Young), where she dealt with diverse organisations from entrepreneurial SMEs to multinational corporations and public-listed companies. Through her audit and advisory experience, she gained invaluable insights into how businesses grow, scale, transform and sometimes fail.
Inspired to build and not just provide advice, Wai Heng co-founded VISTA Eye Specialist and spent the next 27 years helping to transform it from a single-centre practice to one of Malaysia’s leading eyecare groups with 18 centres nationwide. As the leader responsible for Finance, Operations, Human Resources and Organisational Development, she was pivotal in building the systems, governance structures, leadership capabilities and operational discipline that enabled VISTA to scale sustainably over three decades. She also played a key role in the due diligence and negotiations that led to VISTA’s acquisition by a leading healthcare group.
With her career spanning both sides of the table—an auditor evaluating businesses and an entrepreneur building one—Wai Heng offers a unique perspective on what truly drives a sustainable success. She discovered long-term organisational success is seldom driven by financial performance alone. The most enduring companies are built on strong leadership, healthy culture, disciplined systems and the ability to develop people.
Wai Heng believes organisations often struggle not because they lack ambition but in growth which creates complexity relating to people, structure, priorities and execution. Nowadays, her passion is helping leaders to simplify complexity, strengthen organisational foundations and build businesses that can thrive beyond the founder.
Known for her calm, thoughtful listening and practical wisdom, Wai Heng helps leaders to step back from daily challenges to gain clarity on what truly matters. Her approach combines Eastern values of patience, empathy and balance and Western disciplines of governance, accountability and systems thinking.
As a Vistage Chair, she creates a trustworthy setting for leaders to openly discuss challenges, gain fresh perspectives and make better decisions for their businesses and personal lives.
