Steven Mooi
Steven Mooi is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW). He holds an MBA from Cranfield School of Management (UK), a renowned exclusively postgraduate business school in Europe. He is also a HRDF certified trainer. In 1982 Steven started his career in Malaysia with Mostek Sdn Bhd, a US semiconductor MNC. Since then, he had held senior management positions of director, general manager of finance, general manager of operations and general manager of marketing. He has gained a vast amount of experience in a spectrum of industries, viz. manufacturing, leasing, stockbroking, hotel, construction, property development and personal finance in various companies including Sime Darby, Hong Leong, and Peremba.
Steven is result-oriented. He likes challenges of problem-solving, thinking out of the box and creating effective, creative solutions. Throughout his career, he was actively involved in strategic planning, business and project evaluations, overhauling and systematizing inefficient business operations. With his extensive experience, he interprets financial and non-financial data skilfully to discern financial and operational implications. These often open opportunities for devising business strategies, generating new ideas, and improving operational efficiency for his clients.
For the past four years, Steven has been coaching SME and Start-up entrepreneurs in fund raising, company restructuring, financing strategies and business planning. He practises situational leadership, adjusting his leadership style to connect with his clients. Since 2013, Steven has been conducting in-house and public training in finance-related programmes. He makes technical financial matters interesting, practical, and easy to understand for non-financial audience. And he enjoys it.
